Advent… We begin a journey of Hope!

It is Christmas. The gifts are under the tree, the decisions have all been made. Even Santa is freed from “making a list and checking it twice.” In the joy and the wonder of surprises loved ones have planned for us, and the surprises we have planned, let’s not forget the greatest gift. This one came with no strings attached. We did not have to be especially good for it. Surprisingly, it is our own failures, our own sinfulness that brought this gift to us. We did not have to do anything to merit it. It is ours for the taking. And there is the catch. We have to receive it. Christmas gives us the opportunity to open our hearts once more to the Christ. We are invited once again to allow Christ to be incarnated in our lives. Christmas is more than the miracle of Jesus born for each of us. Christmas is the miracle of Christ being born again in each of us. No matter how badly we have failed to live out that incarnation this year, no matter how haphazard and minimal our Advent preparations have been, we are each offered the gift. We are offered the opportunity to begin again. With this Christmas, as a family we can say, “Come, Lord Jesus, come and be born in our hearts.” Wishing you and your families, your loved ones the blessings of a Holy Christmas and may Baby Jesus bring you and your families joy and peace!
