Andiamo incontro à Gesu’ nostra luce!
 Ringraziamo tutti i volontari che hanno ospitato i ragazzi disabili
con un pranzo natalizio lunedi’, 8 dicembre.
 Oggi siete invitati per partecipare alla vendita di pasta e dolci nella
Sala Parocchiale.
Regali natalizi
Invitiamo tutti a donare un piccolo regalo per i bambini poveri. Il Centro Scalabrini e le parrocchie dirette dai Missionari Scalabriniani vi invitano a prendere dall'albero di Natale posto all'entrata della nostra chiesa un biglietto con la scrittta di cose che potreste comprare per i bimbi poveri secondo la loro eta'. Acquistato il regalino attaccate il biglietto e portatelo in chiesa dove lo deporrete ai piedi dell'albero stesso. Grazie.

 E’ aperto il libro delle Messe 2009.
 Si accettano CIBO per “Dans la Rue” e offerte per i fiori/
decorazioni natalizie qui nella nostra Chiesa.
 Siamo in tempo di Decima. Rispondere tutti e generosamente
per il bene della Chiesa. Grazie a coloro che hanno gia risposto.
 Buste per il 2009 sono pronti e potete ritirarli all’entrata della
Chiesa. Se vogliamo cominciare ad utilizzare le BUSTE
domenicali per il 2009, comunicare con l’ufficio.
Commento al Vangelo di Oggi
Il messaggero, annunciato nel vangelo di domenica scorsa, è descritto in modo più dettagliato dall’evangelista Giovanni. Egli ci ricorda, infatti, i dialoghi che Giovanni Battista ebbe con sacerdoti e leviti, venuti da Gerusalemme per interrogarlo. Era forse il Messia? No, rispose Giovanni Battista: “ Io sono voce di uno che grida nel deserto: Preparate la via del Signore, come disse il profeta Isaia ” (Gv 1,23). Sant’Agostino commenta: “Giovanni Battista era una voce, ma in principio il Signore era il Verbo. Giovanni fu una voce per un certo tempo, ma Cristo, che in principio era il Verbo, è il Verbo per l’eternità” (Serm 293) “ Egli - dice l’evangelista Giovanni - venne come testimone per rendere testimonianza alla luce, perché tutti credessero per mezzo di lui ”. Vi sentiamo un’eco del prologo: “Veniva nel mondo la luce vera, quella che illumina ogni uomo ” (Gv 1,9). Anche noi dobbiamo essere suoi testimoni (Gv 15,27) e ciò, prima di tutto, nella santità delle nostre vite perché “ mi ha rivestito delle vesti di salvezza, mi ha avvolto con il manto della giustizia ” (Is 61,10).

Advent… We begin a journey of Hope!
Catholic Action is hosting a Bake Sale today in Church Hall.
All invited to buy homemade pasta & baked goods.
Thank you to all those who organized and participated in the Food Drive
with LCCHS.
Food Drive for the homeless continues. Let’s remember those
who are less fortunate by dropping non-perishable food in baskets @
Church entrance. Food will go to “Dans la Rue”.
Collection envelopes 2009 are ready @ Chuch entrance.
Christmas Tree Gift Giving
The Scalabrini Center and all the churches directed under Scalabrini Missionaries invite the community to share in a “Christmas Tree Gift Giving” for poor children. Cards hung on the tree which is found at the entrance of the Church will indicate the type of gift to purchase depending on the child’s age. Once the gift is wrapped, tie the card on the gift, bring it to Church and place it under the tree. Thank you.

THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT
These year-end days are short and somewhat dreary. There is very little natural light and our energy is flagging. We need Advent! We need to be drawn into looking forward, into preparations for the great day of God. In Advent, we keep going through the dark, fuelled by hope and propelled by our sense of mission. Today’s Gospel focuses on John the Baptist, our Advent Prophet. This is a man who is totally faithful to the mission given to him by God. His job is to point to Jesus Christ, the Messiah. He actually began that work while still in his mother’s womb, leaping for joy when the young pregnant Virgin Mary came to visit her cousin Elizabeth. In Advent we come to the amazing realization that God calls us, like he called John the Baptist, to point to the Messiah in all the places we live. Advent expresses he complexity of the world …yearning for light, needing the straight path, waiting with what to some may seem an unreasonable expectation of goodness. We are an Advent people, called by God to testify to the light. We have a share in making the twisted ways straight. And every time we gather as God’s people, joining our brothers ad sisters at the Lord’s banquet table, God’s call is renewed in us, God’s grace is strengthened in us, and we reflect God’s marvelous light in the darkness of the world.
